Earthquake catalogs provide the foundation for analyzing regional seismicity, spatial distribution, and the frequency and recurrence of strong earthquakes. A key parameter in such analysis is the magnitude of completeness ( ). In this study, Mc is estimated for the Uvs region using the Catalog-based Goodness-of-Fit test applied to the earthquake catalog within 1997–2023. The results indicate an value of 1.2, suggesting that earthquakes with magnitudes M≥1.2 are completely recorded in the region. Furthermore, the magnitude of completeness in earthquake catalog is closely related to the detection capability of the seismic station network. An analysis accounting for the improvement of seismic stations in the study area shows that Mc decreased from 2.9 to 0.9.
